Some of the kids who come through our doors have never seen a dentist. Not once. They’re not skipping appointments — they’ve never had one. That’s the reality for a lot of families in Northwest Arkansas, and it’s the reason we built a children’s program into the heart of what Mint for More does.
Finding the Kids Who Need Us
We partner with local schools and organizations to identify children who don’t have access to regular dental care. Teachers and counselors know which kids are struggling. They see the child who won’t eat lunch because their teeth hurt. The kid who covers their mouth every time they smile. When those referrals come in, we bring the kids to the clinic and take care of what needs to be done — cleanings, fillings, extractions, whatever it takes.
The goal isn’t just to fix today’s problem. It’s to set these kids on a healthier path before small problems turn into big ones.
Making It Feel Normal

One of the most important things our team does for these kids isn’t clinical — it’s emotional. A lot of them are nervous. Some are scared. A few have had experiences that make them not want to open their mouth at all.
So we take our time. We explain what we’re doing. We let them wear the cool sunglasses. Bourbon and Weller — our therapy dogs — help with the really nervous ones. We make it an experience that doesn’t feel like punishment.
Because if a kid’s first dental experience is traumatic, they’ll avoid the dentist for the rest of their life. If it’s positive, they’ll come back. That one visit can shape decades of health decisions.
The Goodie Bag Isn’t Just a Goodie Bag

Every kid leaves with a bag. Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a toy. Sounds small. But for some of these children, it’s the first toothbrush they’ve ever owned. That’s not an exaggeration. When a kid walks out of here with a toothbrush and actually knows how to use it, we’ve done something that matters beyond the cleaning we just gave them.
Why This Matters
Every child who walks through our doors is a reminder of why Mint for More exists. These aren’t statistics. They’re kids with names and favorite colors and strong opinions about which flavor of toothpaste is best. And they deserve the same dental care as any other child in our community.
A $20 donation covers a child’s cleaning and exam. That’s it — $20 to give a kid a healthy start they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
