Megan’s Story
“I would like to thank them for the opportunity to have my life back.”

Megan came to Mint for More while rebuilding her life in recovery — with 15 teeth that would crumble if she bit down too hard, and a sense of self-worth worn down to almost nothing.
She was referred through our partner Pearl, where she now works in peer support, walking alongside others on their own recovery road. Addiction had taken a hard toll on her mouth, and she had no dental insurance and no resources to fix it. “If Mint for More wasn’t available,” she says, “I’d still be really struggling.”
After extractions and a full set of dentures, the change reached far past her smile. She gained weight — because she could finally eat. At her annual checkup, her doctor took her off the blood-pressure medication she’d been on for a year, after her teeth healed and her inflammation came down.
Most of all, she’s present again — back in her kids’ lives and back to celebrating the people she loves, smiling in the pictures instead of hiding from them. And at Pearl, she gets to tell the people she serves the thing she now knows is true: there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
What changed

“It’s people like that who made it possible for me. That gives me more hope than I can express.”
— Megan, to the donors who make this care possible
Mint for More provides free dental care to neighbors who lack access to a dental home. Stories like Megan’s are made possible by donors — and by the nonprofit partners who refer the neighbors we serve.
